THE CRITTERS!

THE SHEEP

Picture
PRIMROSE
Primrose is a Cormo Cross ewe. Cormo is a cross between a Corriedale and a Merino. She also has East Friesan and Romney in her background. Primrose was given to me by a very nice woman in Northern Illinois, when I first started spinning. Primrose is the boss sheep of the flock, and every year she blesses me with triplets! Primrose is tame, loves to be petted and is addicted to horse cookies!! If you are a beginning spinner, this is the fiber you would want to start on. Her fiber is soft, of medium length and has a sheen to it! This picture was taken not long after shearing!

MORGAINE

Picture
Morgaine is a purebred Border Leicester with registration papers. She was born January 31, 2009. Morgaine is tame, very loving and wants to be petted all the time. Her fiber is typical of the Border Leicester wool, luscious, long, alot of kink in it and it is a dream to spin! Before she is shorn, her wool looks like she has little tight banana curls in it!! Morgaine is also addicted to horse cookies and will go a long ways to see if you have one for her! This picture was taken not long after shearing.

FINORA

Picture
Finora is also a full blooded Border Leicester and is the twin of Morgaine. Like her sister she was born on January 31, 2009 and has registration papers. Finora is the cut up of the two. She loves to aggravate the others and likes to chase the cats out of the pasture! But on the flip side she is the most loveable of all of the sheep. She doesn't need a horse cookie to come and see you, (although she is also addicted to them)! Like her sister, Finora's fleece is long, luscious, and has quite a twist in it.  This picture was taken not long after shearing!

MAIREAD

Picture
Mairead is 5 years old and is also a purebred Border Leicester!  Mairead is more standoffish than the rest of the sheep. She loves horse cookies, but won't go out of her way to get one! For the past 3 years Mairead has blessed me with twins! She is an excellent mom and really misses her babies at weaning time. Her wool is also typical of the Border Leicester's and is awesome to spin! Mairead is the second in command with the flock and never lets the younger ones forget it!! This pictures was taken not long after shearing!

INA

Picture

Ina is a ewe lamb and was born February 3 , 2011. Ina is about the same size and age of Sir Locksly and has been in his company for awhile. Ina will be a nice addition to the flock. The other girls already like her! She was a bottle baby too, and is really tame, although she doesn't let Sir Locksly push her around! She is really taking to horse cookies!!

SIR LOCKSLY

Picture

Sir Locksly is our new Ram lamb. He was born February 8, 2011. He was bottle fed for a while and he is really tame. He already thinks he is boss of the flock, until Primrose and Morgaine get ahold of him! By fall he will be mature enough to allow him to stay in with the girls for breeding, so we can have new lambs in the spring

THE HORSES AND PONIES

Picture
The Brat Pack!!
Three of these ponies are only here for the summer, they will be going to their new homes in the fall. From the left, paint gelding, he is so nice and gentle and well broke. Paint filly, she is two years old and is not broke, but she is gentle and a sweetheart! Sasha, she lives here, she is broke to ride and drive and in this picture she is in foal and will be having her mule baby soon! The last guy is a gelding and he is broke to ride and drive also, he likes Sasha and always hangs around her!

BEN

Picture

Ben is the senior horse living here. Ben turned 20 this summer and is still full of himself! Ben is a registered Morgan horse and was kept a stallion and used for breeding until he was 12. When he was 12 he was fixed so he couldn't breed anymore. There isn't anything that goes on that Ben doesn't know about. He is a sweet horse and loves alot of attention!! Ben is my dad's horse and they are best of buddies!!!

AUTUMN

Picture

Autumn is half Friesian and half Thoroughbred. She is 8 years old and is the most sweetest mare I have ever had! I bought Autumn in February of this year and I plan on training and riding her Dressage. Autumn is the stablemate of George and although she is the boss, he loves to hang around with her, and goes where she goes!! I will be posting our journey together as we train and ride Dressage!!  Autumn is registered with the Friesian Sport Horse Association.

JENNY

Picture
Jenny is Ben's daughter out of Sara, our Arabian mare that passed away. Jenny is called a Morab, which is half Morgan and half Arabian. Jenny is broke to ride and drive, but she hasn't been ridden or driven in about 10 years. Jenny has an eyesight problem. She cannot see anything but shadows and therefore spooks and frightens easily. Jenny has been in the same barn and pasture every since we realized that her eyesight was failing. She knows her surroundings and does well getting around. Jenny is a beautiful mare and loves attention.

THUNDER

Picture

Thunder is a 10 year old Quarter Horse gelding. Thunder is broke to ride and anyone can ride him. He is so gentle , you can ride him or take him anywhere! . He loves to trail ride and he is usually the one I ride when I go off to take pictures. He is very patient and has taken me to some awesome places to snap pictures!!

GEORGE

Picture

George is a 12 year old registered Morgan gelding. George is Ben's last foal. I call him Georgie and he is so sweet! He loves attention and will do anything for you. He is so gentle that I rode him when I had a cast of my right arm!! George loves Autumn, (even tho she is bossy)! and they are together all the time!
